Dialogue zeroes in on improving Brunei education

The Ministry of Education (MoE) held a Muzakarah (Dialogue) session with Legislative Council (LegCo) members at the Conference Hall 1 of the MoE yesterday.

The Muzakarah is an annual event of the Department of Councils of State of the Prime Minister’s Office with ministries and agencies. LegCo member Yang Berhormat Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman led the Muzakarah session attended by some 13 LegCo members.

Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman in his capacity as the Chairman of the Muzakarah session was present. Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the MoE; Acting Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the MoE; Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD); Acting Rector of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA); Acting Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB); Acting Director General of Education; directors; heads of departments and senior officers of the Ministry of Education were also present.

LegCo members briefed on MoE’s mission to ‘Deliver Holistic Education to Achieve Fullest Potential for All’ in which all strategic initiatives aim to provide equal and equitable access to quality education to produce an educated and highly skilled generation of Bruneians upholding the national philosophy of the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB).

The session continued with a video clip presentation on key initiatives implemented by the MoE throughout 2019.

Yang Berhormat Siti Rozaimeriyanty delivered her welcoming speech. It was followed with a dialogue session between members of the LegCo and MoE.

The dialogue shared ideas, discussed issues and proposals that can benefit MoE in its efforts to improve the country’s education.
