Defence attachés discuss security challenges

The closing of a two-day seminar held in conjunction with the Defence Attachés/ Advisers Conference 2019 (DA Conference 2019) was held at the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) yesterday.

Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof officially closed the event.

The seminar brought together Brunei Darussalam’s Defence Attachés/Advisers posted to different parts of the world and invited speakers from Resident Defence Attachés/Advisers to Brunei Darussalam to deliberate on the current security challenges faced by countries.

This year’s panellists included the United Kingdom Defence Adviser to Brunei Darussalam and the Chief Officer, Office Defence Cooperation from Embassy of the United States of America in Brunei Darussalam. RBAF Commander Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud was the guest of honour during the opening ceremony.

Themed ‘Promoting the Understanding of Evolving Regional Security Dynamics Through Cooperation and Information Sharing,’ this year’s seminar aimed to promote information sharing on contemporary issues related to security, current concerns and challenges. It is hoped that such discussions will generate mutual understanding, and strengthen the professional relationship network and cooperation among Brunei Darussalam Defence Attachés/Advisers and those from other countries.
