Contraband seized at Temburong joint operation

Sixty-five cartons of cigarettes were discovered and notices issued by the Royal Customs and Excise Department during a joint operation in the Temburong District on Thursday.

The joint operation comprised 43 personnel from the Temburong Police District, Royal Brunei Police Force, Royal Customs and Excise Department, Immigration and National Registration Department, Narcotics Control Bureau, Religious Enforcement Division, Temburong District Office, Internal Security Department, Labour Department, Food Safety and Quality Control Division and Halal Food Control Division.

The operation targetting the foreign workers’ quarter in Labu Estate was conducted at Lot 1630 Kampong Semamang, Jalan Batang Duri and Utama Bumiputra Complex Temburong (market areas).

Acting Commanding Officer of Temburong Police District ASP Pengiran Anak Haji Azanuddin Aman Shah bin Pengiran Anak Ismail Al-Haj led the operation.

The Labour Department took action on employers for not providing employment contract under section 10 of the Employment order 2009, while the Temburong District Office issued official letter to an offender and warning of cleanliness.

Two special passes and two summon letters were also issued by the Immigration and National Registration Department to an employer and a vendor owner.

The Royal Brunei Police Force will continue to address any negative activities and criminal elements to maintain the safety, security and welfare of Brunei.
