Brunei Darussalam’s grassroots football recognised with AFC accolade

Brunei Darussalam received a major milestone in their development towards grassroots football after the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) was awarded the prestigious Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President’s Recognition Awards for Grassroots Football (Aspiring) at the AFC Annual Awards in Hong Kong last night.

National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam President Pengiran Haji Matusin bin Pengiran Haji Matasan collected the award.

The NFABD President said, “This is indeed a very big surprise for our country. We are very grateful to AFC for acknowledging our efforts.”

He added, “I thank all our staff who have worked hard to develop grass-roots football.”

The candidates for the award also included the Guam Football Association and Palestine Football Association.

Other recipients included Football Association of Singapore who scooped the Developing category while the Chinese Football Association took home the Inspiring category.
