Petronas, through its subsidiary Petronas Carigali Brunei Ltd (PCBL) along with the Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT), brought cheer to 50 children from less privileged families in the Brunei-Muara District yesterday.

The ‘Petronas’ Back-To-School Programme’, which is part of Petronas’ corporate social responsibility effort, saw 50 primary and secondary schoolchildren receiving aid in the form of school uniforms, school bags and stationeries.

The school items were delivered to their homes by representatives of PCBL and SCOT, where the recipients’ families also received hampers consisting of daily necessities such as rice, cooking oil, cereal and milk.

PCBL Country Head Mohamad Othman said that education is a fundamental stage in life and by providing assistance in terms of school supplies and students’ necessities, it will help improve their academic performance and encourage them to excel in their studies.

“The programme is a platform that we hope will help improve their lives and create meaningful changes to the community. Petronas places equal importance on both commercial growth and social development of the communities in which we operate,” he added.
