“Under His Majesty’s wise leadership, the country’s citizens and residents, particularly those without land, are able to enjoy equal welfare, safety and prosperity through the National Housing Scheme that continues to expand, according to current developments,” he said. “Moreover, it is through His Majesty’s wisdom that the district is not exempt from enjoying constant development through the upgrading of public amenities at mukim and village levels, including the provision of national housing with comfortable, modern and secure features, along with essential facilities such as community halls, recreational parks and children’s playgrounds.”

A Doa was read by the Syariah Judge of the Temburong District Lower Syariah Court to bless the ceremony.

All of the 234 recipients were provided with terrace houses under Kampong Rataie. One of the recipients, Dayangku Nursusila binti Pengiran Jamaluddin, expressed her delight on the occasion of the monarch’s visit to her new home. “We feel very honoured to have been chosen as the first to receive a visit from His Majesty,” she told the Bulletin.

A civil servant at the Temburong District Land Office for the past 13 years, Dayangku Nursusila applied for the housing scheme in 2008 and was granted the house three years ago, with the consent of His Majesty.

“I am also glad that I decided to participate in the Housing Scheme under the Employees Trust Fund (TAP), where I was granted with an additional BND25,000 by His Majesty.

“It makes my house payments easier in the form of a deposit and with light instalment fees as the balance,” she said. “On behalf of my family, I thank His Majesty for granting my husband and I a house to live in and bring up our children. We are truly grateful for His Majesty’s generosity for granting us the extra BND25,000.”
