SMARTER Brunei lauded for efforts

Fourteen educators from New Era University (NEU)-Graduate School of Education in Quezon City, and the Department of Education and Dapitan City Division (Dapitan City SPED Centre) the Philippines attended a seminar conducted by the Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei at the SMARTER Brunei EDGE and BACA Centre.

The workshop was on ‘Understanding Autism and Strategies of Managing Autism.’

The NEU-Graduate School of Education also tied-up with the institution by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with SMARTER Brunei.

The MoA was signed between SMARTER Brunei Acting President Pengiran Zamri bin Pengiran Haji Bujang and NEU-Graduate School Education Dean Dr Remedios D Fuentes, witnessed by Acting CEO of SMARTER Brunei Sharifah Adila Surya binti Malai Haji Abdullah and NEU-Graduate School of Education Professor Myla N Manalo.

“The workshop gave participants the rare chance to meet the administrators, staff as well as Individuals With Autism (IWA). The occasion opened the minds and hearts of participants on the massive task undertaken by the centre. Kudos to you all and keep the good work,” said Dr Remedios.

“The NEU-Graduate School of Education is hopeful that a continuing partnerships will be of help to both parties, especially in relation to research,” he added.
