Brunei’s coaching expertise mainly in futsal was highlighted in the regional scene after internationally certified local futsal instructor Haji Puspa bin Haji Muhammad conducted the Gol Brasil Futsal Level 0 and Level 1 Community Coaching Course at the Kampung Tupong Hall in Kuching, Sarawak recently.

The participants aged between 16 and 49 comprised clubs’ representatives, physical education (PE) teachers, senior football coaches and former Sarawak national coaches.

The course involved sessions pertaining to passing patterns, defending patterns, attacking patterns, sole passing patterns as well as dynamic fitness training.

Haji Puspa, who is a licensed Gol Brasil coach, also taught participants defensive side-line set play, attacking side-line set play, indirect kick side-lines set play and corner kick set plays, among others.

Both the Level 0 and Level 1 courses were held for two days in both the classroom setting and on the futsal court. Participants went through a group presentation and sat theory and practical exams.

Apart from the Gol Brasil coaching licence, Haji Puspa also possesses a futsal coaching license that received recognition from various futsal and football governing bodies such as the Asociacion Mundial de Futsal (AMF) and Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

He has also facilitated a coaching course in Debak, Malaysia earlier this year as well as a similar coaching course in Brunei.

The coaching course was organised by Viking Futsal with the cooperation of Planet Futsal Academy, Odin X Club, Kampung Tupong Tengah Village Development and Safety Committee (JKKK) and Kampung Tupong Tengah Sport Recreation Club (KSRKTT).
