Forum focusses on minimising accidents at worksite

Total organised an annual Contractor’s HSE Forum for 2019 at Indera Kayangan Ballroom at The Empire Brunei yesterday.

Themed ‘Working at Height’, the event’s objectives were to create a platform for Total and its contractors to share their knowledge and best practices to minimise the risk of accidents on work sites and to promote a safety culture in their business operations and daily activities.

General Manager of Total in Brunei Nicolas Wawresky highlighted the importance of safety which has always been the core value for Total.

He shared on the government’s initiative through Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) who organised the first Industry HSE Group Meeting which gathers not only companies from the oil and gas industry but also from other sectors to exchange knowledge and experiences recently. Total in Brunei celebrated 20 years without Lost Time Incidents (LTI) this year.

“It is an achievement which would not have been possible without everyone’s collective effort. However, everyone must remain vigilant and focussed to ensure that everyone can return home to their family and loved ones,” said Wawresky.

A workshop to exchange knowledge and ideas on Work at Height as well as a series of presentations by representatives from Total and the contractors on topics including (Working at Height, Rope Access, Ethics and Compliance) were held.

Some 44 business contractors attended the forum including Total’s business partners and representatives from the main oil and gas service companies in Brunei as well as the regulators.
