A 12-member delegation from the Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam (PPPBD) left for Seoul, South Korea yesterday to attend the Friends of Asia Pacific World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) 20th anniversary celebration gathering from November 11-15.
Deputy Chief Commissioner of PPPBD Hajah Viviyanti binti Haji Md Ali is spearheading the Brunei delegation.
Among the objectives of the gathering is to empower young women from the Asia-Pacific region in line with this year’s theme ‘Strong and Dynamic Leadership’.
The delegation will also attend workshops on health action, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training, cultural visits to Nam Folk Village and National Museum, handicraft activities and the presentation of Friends of Asia Pacific WAGGGS badges.
PPPBD trainer Hajah Siti Afsah binti Haji Matassan explained that the delegation hoped to share the best practices obtained from the event by assimilating more effective methods and approaches to PPPBD members.
The Brunei delegation will be joined by 170 participants representing 60 girl guide associations within the region.
The Friends of Asia Pacific WAGGGS established in 1999 has over 2,400 members. The association has become a platform for members to meet and exchange ideas and experiences.
It has not only heightened and strengthened international scouting and guiding experience, but has also raised the awareness and profile of the movements.
