BND1,400 fine for prostitution, visit pass rule violation

The Magistrate’s Court yesterday handed a Vietnamese woman a fine of BND1,400, or a month and three weeks’ imprisonment in default, for prostitution and engaging in work while on a visit pass.

According to Deputy Public Prosecutor Dr Hussin Ali Idris, Cao Thi Thanh, 36, was found in a hotel room in Berakas during a raid conducted by the Anti-Vice and Gambling Suppresion Unit of the Royal Brunei Police Force at 7.12pm on November 11, 2019.

The police found several items related to prostitution activities, along with a mobile phone with some cash.

Magistrate Pengiran Hazirah binti Pengiran Haji Mohd Yusof presided over the case.
