The first recycling drive at the Recreation Hill of RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau collected 548kg of recyclables.

Organised by Green Brunei and RECOVER with the support from Kampong Panchor Mengkubau Village Consultative Council, the collected items included 475kg of paper, 21kg of plastic bottles, 12kg of metal items and 40kg of aluminium cans as well as e-waste and waste oil.

With the objectives of creating better awareness on recycling among the residents while also reducing the amount of solid waste that ends up in the landfill, the drive was participated by residents of the national housing scheme as well as members of the public.

The participants brought along their recyclables, which were separated, weighed, and exchanged for cash by partner companies Daikyo Environmental Recycling Sdn Bhd, A Global Green Recycle Sdn Bhd and CIC Environmental Services Sdn Bhd.

This is the fifth community recycling outreach activity under the Green Depot initiative by Green Brunei with events held at Zainab Mosque in Lumut, Seria Bowling Centre at KB Sentral and Community Hall of Kampong Sungai Teraban.
