Brunei Darussalam’s youth can play a role in helping to achieve Brunei Vision 2035 by studying hard; learning various skills; maintaining cleanliness of surroundings; helping parents/senior citizens/neighbours; maintaining a healthy lifestyle; using electricity and water prudently; adopting a savings culture; supporting local products and steering clear of criminal activities.

Special Duties Officer II from Sekretariat Tetap Wawasan Brunei 2035 Amalina binti Haji Tengah stated this in her presentation to 30 participants of the 2nd Brunei Darussalam Post-Graduates Civic Village Programme for 2019 at the Information Department yesterday.

She outlined Brunei Vision 2035’s goals of having citizens who are highly-educated, highly-skilled and successful, enjoying a high standard of living in a country with a dynamic and sustainable economy.

Following the establishment of the Supreme Council of the Brunei Vision 2035 in 2014 to realise the nation’s potential, the Brunei Vision 2035 framework was established in 2016 as reference to managing and monitoring the development of the country with more focus.

It is the responsibility of all, including the Supreme Council of the Brunei Vision 2035, the public, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), grassroots leaders as well as heads of private and public sectors to work towards achieving this vision, she said.

The presentation was one of the many approaches to disseminate information on Brunei Vision 2035 to targetted audiences of youth as they can play an important role for realising this vision.

The Prime Minister’s Office will implement a number of initiatives including developing a Brunei Vision 2035 website, promotion through Radio Television Brunei and radio networks as well hosting workshops and briefings.

Assistant Information Officer Noor Hijrah binti Haji Idris delivered a briefing on the roles and responsibilities of citizens, while Acting Head of the Special Education Unit at the Ministry of Education Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor delivered a motivation talk.
