Youth showcase talent at Short Film Competition

Dayangku Jazmeena Anastasya binti Pengiran Norasmadi with her film titled ‘Belia Kitani Arah AIFFA 2019’ was named champion of the Short Film Competition held in conjunction with the 35th National Day celebration in a prize presentation ceremony at the Lecture Room of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Berakas yesterday.

Guest of honour Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin presented the prizes.

Dayangku Jazmeena Anastasya received a BND2,500 cash prize, a trophy and certificate. Second place went to Muhammad Zharif bin Zaini, for his film ‘Harapan’. He received a BND1,500 cash prize, a trophy and certificate.

Meanwhile, Liyana binti Haji Julay with her film ‘Nasi’ came in third and received a BND1,000 cash prize, trophy and certificate.

The competition was a platform to screen stories related to real life, history, culture, research and information that reflects actual facts to illustrate the patriotic spirit of the National Day in terms of the progression and development aspect of the nation since its independence.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports distributes the Talian ANAK 121 posters during the event

The competition aimed to provide bigger opportunities for the public to be more active in showing their creativity in film production and also to show and raise awareness to the public, particularly in the preservation of Brunei’s cultural arts and heritage.

It also aimed towards educating, disseminating information, entertain, interact and motivate the public and younger generation through films as the medium in disseminating information.

Later, the guest of honour presented 500 Talian ANAK 121 posters to public relation officers, representatives from various government ministries and departments.

The distribution of posters is part of the Community Development Department’s effort, in collaboration with TelBru and other strategic partners, to promote the hotline among the public.

The launching of Talian ANAK 121, with the slogan ‘Kami Mendangar’, was held on October 1 and it started its operation 24 hours a day on October 2.

The hotline is a step forward in addressing issues relating to children, especially in providing protection for them and prevention of unwanted incidents.

The event ended with the screening of ‘Belia Kitani Arah AIFFA 2019’ and ‘Talian ANAK 121’ video clip.
