Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah yesterday donated BND36,100 in totality as part of a project to enhance the welfare of the people of Brunei Darussalam.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud in his capacity as a member of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Board of Directors handed over the donations.

The first donation was for Nur Arifah Yasmoon binti Yusof of STKRJ Kampong Rimba. The BND17,800 donation came in the form of a hydraulic system and car modification financing. This will make it easier for her to get in and out of the car.

Nur Arifah Yasmoon suffered a spinal cord injury causing tetraplegia. Her physical condition has not deterred her from serving as a teacher.

Her father, Yusof bin Sulaiman, received the donation.

The second donation was at the Community Development Department (JAPEM) Welfare Home Complex in Kampong Belimbing Subok, where the minister handed over a BND8,300 donation to the family of Haji Manan bin Haji Yusof, who are victims of a September 30 house fire at Kampong Pelambayan in Mukim Kota Batu.

The final donation was in the form of a BND10,000 housing aid to the family of Hajah Rinawati binti Haji Serudin in Kampong Setia ‘A.’

Hajah Rinawati is a single mother of three, who receives BND350 welfare assistance from JAPEM to cover their daily expenses.

Previously, Hajah Rinawati and her children, who are still in school, stayed at her parents’ house with only a room to share between the four of them.

Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development and Acting Managing Director of Yayasan Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak was also present for the handovers.
