Taste Thai dishes without going to Thailand

Choices Restaurant of The Brunei Hotel is bringing more dining options to its diners with the Thai Brunch promotion every second and every fourth Sunday of the month until December.

Leading the kitchen staff, chef Samuel and his team will prepare the brunch dishes on the buffet with a three-menu cycle, serving their most popular authentic dishes in all the menu cycles.

He said that the running of the Thai Brunch Promo that began yesterday was in response to the popularity of their Thai food promo in their ala-Carte menu that began a couple months ago. This led to the team initiating the brunch promo to give guests a taste of the varieties of Thai dishes that are in the ala-carte menu.

There is also a live cooking station for egg dishes as well as the making of the popular Som Tam freshly prepared by chef Samuel’s dedicated staff at the station upon request by guests as well as the preparation of Mango Sticky Rice.

“Our Mango Sticky Rice is one of the hot items in our Thai menu and we always have requests in our catering services for this particular dessert. However, on this particular promotion we had a good brainstorming session among the chefs here and came up with another sauce option, which is the durian sauce,” said Chef Samuel.

The chef and his team are also working to creating new dishes, which although ingredients used in creating the new Thai food items are not particularly Thai ingredients, the basic ingredients will be from authentic Thai herbs and pastes so that it still remains ‘Thai’ to taste.

As for the main dishes, the buffet features authentic Thai dishes such as Pattaya fried rice, green curry chicken, Thai mango fish, clear and creamy Tom Yam soups along with cold cuts, flavoured yoghurt, Malay Kueh, selection of chilled juices as well as coffee and tea.

Meanwhile, Choices have also added to the freshly made cookies with the additional choices of Honeycomb cookies offering flavours of mint, white chocolate, dark chocolate and durian.
