The Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Charity Fun Walk, Run, Cycle 2019 was well received with 1,111 participants signing up for the event at the Indoor Stadium, Berakas yesterday.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar attended the event, which opened with a 15-minute warm-up session led by Zumba Instructor Vivian Ching Hui Ling. Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin flagged off the cyclists.

The event featured three categories: 5km Fun Walk, Fun Run, and the 21km cycle. Participants received a T-shirt, a lucky draw ticket and a medal upon completion.

The event was held to raise funds for Pusat Ehsan’s growing operating costs, and will mainly benefit its special needs community. It was also held to advocate the rights and needs of people with special needs in the country.

All proceeds will go to the local charity organiser, Pusat Ehsan, which is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to providing quality education, training, and rehabilitation services to people with special needs in Brunei.

The lucky draw saw winners bagging BN2,000 (first prize); BND1,000 and BND500, sponsored by a Pusat Ehsan patron.

Other lucky draw winners walked away with prizes including Samsung hand phone, bicycles and hotel vouchers.

“Pusat Ehsan’s organising team wishes to thank its partners, sponsors, supporters, volunteers, parents, students, and staff for making this year’s event the best so far,” said Diana Solinap, the secretariat team member of the organising committee.
