Spreading the word on dangers of smoking

Over 50 Mashhor General Contractor Sdn Bhd (MGCSB)employees attended a briefing held as part of a Smoking Awareness and Mini Exhibition Campaign, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Officials from the Health Promotion Centre (HPC), Ministry of Health, conducted the event following an invitation from the company. They were led by Senior Official Hajah Mahamum binti Dato Haji Abu Zar.

The briefing held at the MGCSB main office at Jalan Pangsa, Seria aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage attendees to ensure a clean culture and environment not only for staff members, but customers and stakeholders by protecting them from passive smoke. Corporate HSSE Manager Mohd Rizal bin Dr Haji Abdul Latif, who led the Corporate HSSE Department in organising the event, welcomed the Health Promotion Centre officials.

Hajah Mahamum delivered a presentation on the Tobacco Order Act to assist smokers in controlling their addiction and finally kicking the habit.

An exhibition highlighted the side effects and impact of smoking and e-vaping.

Health Education Officer Arni Nur Aqilah binti Bakar and Nurse Noorizan binti Idris from the HPC offered free counselling on kicking the habit.

Muara Youth Development Centre students also attended the event.
