Show of strength at Politeknik Brunei Tasek Challenge

Politeknik Brunei (PB) carried out the Politeknik Brunei Tasek Challenge 2019 at the Tasek Lama Recreational Park in the capital yesterday.

The race was part of the activity under the Carnival Convo in conjunction with PB’s Fifth Convocation Ceremony. The race was also held to support the aspiration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, towards a healthy nation.

The race was coordinated by the Development and Student’s Innovation Centre, and conducted by committee members of PB’s BeFit programme.

The race was divided into four categories – 5km Men’s Open category, Women’s Open category (both categories for participants below the age of 44), 5km Men’s Veteran category and Women’s Veteran category (both categories for participants aged 45 and above) and the 1.5km Fun Hike.

Ah Hoon won the Men’s Open category followed by Haji Busu bin Haji Nudin and Fadila Zailani in second and third place.

In the Women’s Open Category, Kathryn Deuerlein emerged the winner with Nur Amal Nadhirah binti Abdul Rahim in second place and Wan Amalina in third.

In the Men’s Veteran category, first place went to Haji Jupli bin Haji Pangis while Abdul Ramlan Ma’arof finsihed in second place. Md Nordin Lamit claimed third place.

In the Women’s Veteran category, Cecilia Maksimon won first place followed by Fatty in second place and Bay Luke in third place. Director of PB Denis Ho Mun Tai presented prizes to the first, second and third place winners. Sponsors HSN and PSA presented prizes to the winners from fourth place to 10th place.

All first place winners received a BND200 cash prize and a trophy, with second place winners receiving a BND150 cash prize and a trophy. Third place finishers earned a BND100 cash prize along with a trophy. All winners also received vouchers, cap and four cans of RealMix drink.
