Scouts plant saplings to mark International Day of Peace

Over 35 Rover Scout Crew 1102 of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) recently participated in tree planting initiative at the premises of the Centre for Promotion of Knowledge and Language Office, UNISSA to mark International Day of Peace themed ‘Climate Action for Peace’.

The participants comprising Bendahara Crew, Digadong Crew, Temenggong Crew and Pemancha Crew planted flower plants such as Ixora, Bougainvillea and Hibiscus.

The activity was hoped to raise awareness on peace and the importance or preservation of the natural environment.

It is also one of the important initiatives for Sustainable Development Goals 13 (SDG 13) – a climate change and Messenger of Peace Initiative under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and supported by the World Organization of the Scout Movement.

Messenger of Peace is a global programme that involves scout members worldwide to carry out a project that can contribute to peace in their countries.
