Muhammad Nadzrin bin Abdullah scored a dramatic last-minute winner to send the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) into the final of the Piala Keputeraan 2019 during a thrilling 3-2 victory against the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex on Friday night.

MoRA had recovered from a two-goal deficit in the space of ten minutes in the second half, including an 89th-minute equaliser before scenes of euphoria erupted following Muhammad Nadzrin’s winner in the 92nd minute.

PMO were the sharper side in the first half, having created a flurry of chances. PMO’s search for the opening goal nearly arrived as Abdul Azim bin Abdul Rasid slipped past his marker, but MoRA’s goalkeeper Muhd Nabil bin Haji Maidin stopped him in his tracks.

The Group ‘A’ winners deservedly went in front before the break after Norfaez bin Sayang pounced onto a loose ball from a corner in the 35th minute.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) star then saw his header saved by Muhd Nabil as he looked to double his side’s lead.

Norfaez grabbed his second goal of the game in the 72nd minute but Mohd Aminuddin Zakwan bin Mohd Tahir replied for MoRA seven minutes later with a well-taken effort.

MoRA talisman Mohd Asri bin Haji Aspar looked to have extended the game beyond the prescribed 90 minutes, a minute from time. However, Mohd Nadzrin struck the last-minute winner to decide the match.

The winner of the second semi-final match between the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) awaits PMO in the title decider, which is slated to be held on November 10.

The second semi-final between MoHA and MinDef will be held at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex tomorrow.

Members of the public, including football enthusiasts, are welcome to watch the match.
