Petroleum Geoscience Skills Development Training courses launched in Bangladesh

Dimension Strata Sdn Bhd, a local Brunei Darussalam company specialising in oil and gas seismic interpretation and reservoir 3D geomodelling, together with its local partner in Bangladesh, Green Power Limited, and the Department of Geology, Dhaka University, launched a series of Petroleum Geoscience Skills Development training courses at the Auditorium of the Dhaka University.

Vice Chancellor of the Dhaka University Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman officiated.

High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to People’s Republic of Bangladesh Haji Haris bin Haji Othman was also present.

Representatives from national and international oil companies and oil service companies in Bangladesh, as well as geology research institutions in the country attended the event. During the launching, Managing Director of Dimension Strata Sdn Bhd Mohammad Reduan bin Haji Mohd Yusof presented a talk on ‘Improved Resource Management through Better Visualisation of the Structural Characteristics of Subsurface Hydro-carbon Prospects’.

The event continued with a technical presentation by the company’s Reservoir Geomodeller Dr AKM Eahsanul Haque on ‘Enhanced Understanding of Subsurface Hydrocarbon Structures using OrbStrata’, an oil and gas seismic interpretation and reservoir 3D geomodelling system developed by the company.

It was rolled out in conjunction with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the three companies on April 22 in the presence of Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina during her recent official visit to Brunei Darussalam.
