Persons with different abilities showcase literacy skills in competition

Persons with different abilities (OKU) of Pusat Bahagia in all four districts showcased their literacy skills in several competitions held in conjunction with the National family Day 2019 recently.

The competitions were organised by the Community Development Department (JAPEM) under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, in cooperation with the Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The winners of the first-of-its-kind Literacy OKU Bahagia competition were presented with prizes by guest of honour Deputy Permanent Secretary (Community) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Saidah binti Haji Wahid @ Burut during a ceremony at the Darul Imtiyaz Hall of Pusat Bahagia, Kampong Pulaie yesterday afternoon. Acting Director of Community Development Rostinah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Sura Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Tahir, Acting Assistant Director of Persons with Different Abilities Services Division under JAPEM Md Nasrullah El-Hakiem bin Haji Mohammed, officers, parents, students and trainees of Pusat Bahagia were also present.

Ng Vui Khiong from Pusat Bahagia Eric Goh in Kuala Belait won the beginner level in Malay Language spelling, while Muhammad Syahmi Syahiran bin Sahari from Tutong Pusat Bahagia won the medium level.

Yee Yen Xing from Pusat Bahagia Eric Goh in Kuala Belait won the beginner level of Malay Language Reading and Muhammad Syahmi won first place in the medium level in Malay Language Reading.Aadi Aidil bin Fazakir from Pusat Bahagia Eric Goh in Kuala Belait won the beginner and medium levels for English Language Spelling.

Nur Aisyah Lina from Brunei-Muara Pusat Bahagia won the beginner level of English Language Reading and Muhd Nur Alif bin Haji Md Akin from Tutong Pusat Bahagia won the medium level.

Mohammad Alif bin Haji Taha from Brunei-Muara Pusat Bahagia won first place in the Jawi Writing Competition.

First place of memorisation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Ayat-Ayat Lazim for men went to Awangku Muhd Ali Safwan bin Pengiran Ali Shafie of the Brunei-Muara Pusat Bahagia, while winner for its women category was Nurul Huda binti Abdul Ghani from Tutong Pusat Bahagia.
