Hundreds flocked to One Riverside last night to enjoy an evening of musical performances by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Band and the Seventh Fleet Band of the United States (US) Navy.

The band performance was part of a community service programme held in conjunction with the 25th Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Exercise.

The musical performance featured 28 exceptional musicians led by Head of the RBAF Band Lieutenant Nurul Hairani binti Haji Abdul Hamid, while the Seventh Fleet Band was led by Chief Musician Justin Glenn.

The event featured more than a dozen songs by each band. It was divided into three parts which began with the Seventh Fleet Band, followed by the RBAF Band and finally a combined performance by both bands. The crowd sang along to popular hits, with cheers erupting at the end of each set.

A tenant of a popular Arabic restaurant at One Riverside said it was the first time he witnessed such a huge crowd at the venue, and hopes to see similar events in the future.

Throwing his support behind the event was US Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Matthew J Matthews.

As part of a community service programme, a joint band performance will also be held at One City Shopping Centre at 8pm today.
