The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) staged a comeback to advance into the final of the Piala Keputeraan 2019 after a 2-1 victory against defending champions Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex on Monday night.

The reigning holders broke the deadlock through Muhammad Maududi bin Kasmi in the 18th minute as the star midfielder continued his recent scoring streak.

However, the breakthrough was only as good as it got as the first goal awakened the defence personnel, and prompted them to break down movement of their opponents in every opportunity.

Neither MoHA’s regular attackers Sahrin bin Momin or Hamizan Aziz bin Sulaiman could trouble the opponents’ backline as Ministry of Defence began to grow into the game.

MoHA finally relented to pressure as Md Hariz Danial bin Haji Khallidden grabbed the leveller in the 40th minute.

The comeback was complete when Yaakub bin Kassim scored the winner two minutes from time.

The Ministry of Defence will play Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in the title decider at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas on November 10.
