His Majesty presents Basic Airborne Badge to Prince Mateen

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday attended the Closing Ceremony and Badges Presentation for the Basic Airborne Course and Military Freefall Course at the Penanjong Garrison.

Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Upon arrival at Penanjong Garrison, His Majesty was greeted by Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, and Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud.

Also present was the High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam Lim Hong Huai.

His Majesty proceeded to the dais for a royal salute and later inspected the royal guard of honour, which was then followed by the witnessing of the final freefall jump by the course participants.

His Majesty then presented the Basic Airborne Course and Military Freefall Course badges to His Royal Highness Captain (U) Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and the other course participants.

Both courses were attended by His Royal Highness Captain (U) Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and eight other personnel from the RBAF.

The Military Freefall Course was also attended by four personnel from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

His Majesty then proceeded to view a static display of the parachuting capabilities of the RBAF, before attending breakfast at the Dining Hall.

The Basic Airborne Course is conducted by the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), while the Military Freefall Course is jointly conducted by the Special Forces Regiment of the RBAF with the Special Operations Training Support Centre of the SAF.

Both courses were held from September 9 to October 16, at the Penanjong Garrison.
