A total of 78 enforcement personnel from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Royal Customs and Excise Department and the Religious Enforcement Division (BPU) conducted a joint operation at the parking lot near the Indoor Stadium, in Berakas, recently.
The operation dubbed Operasi Benteras, detained 76 men and women, and recorded 15 offences under the Customs Act. Meanwhile, both NCB and BPU did not record any offence.
In the operation, a number of vehicles were suspected to be in violation of the Road Traffic Act was handed over to the Traffic Control and Investigation Department (JSKLL) of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) for further action.
Operasi Beneteras was led by the NCB as part of the continuous efforts with other law enforcement agencies to jointly curb criminal activities in the country.
The NCB reminded the public that drug offences are a serious offence and any involvement in any form of illegal drug activities may carry capital punishment under the Misuse of Drugs Act, Chapter 27.
