Historic day as FIFA President arrives in town

Today is a historic day for the football community in Brunei Darussalam as the President of football’s governing body Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Gianni Infantino (pic below) arrives in the country.

According to a statement from the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD), the President of FIFA and delegation will be in the country as part of their East Asia tour.

Infantino is scheduled to have an audience with His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Deputy Sultan.

The FIFA President will also meet with His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of NFABD and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin. The meetings aim to discuss football development in Brunei Darussalam and to share FIFA’s vision as well as promoting its values. The visit will also strengthen ties between FIFA and NFABD.

The FIFA delegation includes Deputy Secretary General – Football Mattias Grafström, CEO of FIFA Foundation Yuri Djorkaeff, Chief of Communications Onofre Costa, Director of Member Associations Asia and Oceania Sanjeevan Balasingam and President’s Office Manager Federico Raviglione.

They will also have a session with the country’s football community at Indera Samudra Grand Hall of The Empire Hotel & Country Club, as well as meet grassroots players at the NFABD premises.
