A three-day ‘Funtastic Fair’ organised by Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Student Council (BPMFASS) was officially launched at Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences (PAPRSB IHS) Building yesterday.
Guest of honour Dean of the UBD Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Dr Noor Azam bin Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Haji Othman officiated.
Chairperson of the ceremony Arina binti Zainal said that the Funtastic Fair is organised to spread awareness on stress which should be acknowledged as a problem rather than seen as a norm. She explained that the feeling of stress can happen due to hefty workloads, financial issues, family problems and the most common for students will be grades, and therefore, the fair will remind people that having fun and forgetting their worries are ways to cope with stresses.
Dr Noor Azam applauded the initiative and further emphasised the importance of raising awareness. The highlights of the event are Operation Smile, a compilation of fun activities including A Singer is Born, I Lost My Pen — Please Listen, Paperwork Tennis, Bang! Bang! and Play Button.
Meanwhile, UBD’s Got Talent will be held during the third day of the event from 3pm to 4.30pm and will showcase students’ skills in dancing and singing.
The fair will also feature several vendors – Melted Yellow & Soldier Dreak by Muram, Kyna Popsicle, The Banana Story, Cafe Kopi & Roti, Pastries Fairy & Capolavaro, Stop Lok Go, Slush Zone, Bunga Kilanas and Moistjito.
A reptile house is also set up by PMBF’s Animal Pet Wonders.
It is hoped that the fair will help implement the importance of recognising the impact of stress and its management, particularly to university students as it can affect their daily lives.
The three-day Funtastic Fair held at the Concourse Area of PAPRSB IHS Extension Building ends tomorrow.
