Dikir Maulud ceremonies continue

The 12-night Dikir Maulud continued to be held in the country in conjunction with the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) which falls on November 9.

The Ministry of Development (MoD) and departments under it held the Dikir Maulud at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Mosque on Tuesday.

Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar was the chief guest.

Deputy Minister of Development Dato Seri Paduka Ar Awang Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin and Permanent Secretary (Infrastructure, Housing and Professional) at the MoD Ir Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria along with heads of departments, officers and staff of the ministry and departments under it were also present.

The religious ceremony began with a mass Maghrib prayer led by the mosque’s Imam Haji Jufri bin Haji Hidup, who also delivered a religious talk.

This was followed by the recitation of Dikir.

Meanwhile, an entourage from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and departments under it travelled to the Belait District on Tuesday night to conduct the Dikir Maulud at the STKRJ Lorong Tiga Selatan Mosque.

Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin was present.

Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) at the MoHA Salminan bin Haji Burut led the MoHA entourage comprising MoHA senior officers and staff.

Belait District Officer Ramlee bin Haji Jamudin along with heads of government departments and agencies, mukim penghulus, village heads, and members of the mukim and village consultative councils based in the Belait District also attended the event.

The ceremony started with a mass Maghrib prayer followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the mosque’s Imam Shahirwandy bin Shamsudin. This followed with the mass recitation of Dikir Assalamualaika, Dikir Bisyahri and Dikir Alhamd.

The event continued with the mass recitation of Dikir Marhaban and the recitation of Doa Dikir and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam also led by Shahirwandy.

The MoHA is to conduct similar ceremonies across selected mosques at other districts, not only to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), but also to strengthen ties between the attendees.

Former residents of the Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College (SOASC) Hostel Group also held the opening of the nightly Dikir Maulud for 12 nights at the residence of Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Majid bin Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahim in Kampong Manggis II on Monday night.

The group’s closing ceremony of Dikir Maulud will be held on November 8, hosted by Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid @ Sabli bin Haji Arshad at his residence in Kampong Tanjong Nangka.

About 100 group members will also join the Maulidur Rasul Procession on November 9 at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital.

The nightly Dikir is held for 12 nights across the country to further strengthen the love towards Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by reciting the Dikir, in addition to gaining blessings from Allah the Almighty and seeking assistance in the days of the hereafter from Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
