Dikir ceremonies mark countdown to Maulidur Rasul

Opening Dikir ceremonies were held across the country in mosques and suraus last night to start off the celebration of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by holding nightly Dikir at mosques and suraus over the course of 12 nights until the 12th of Rabiulawal, 1441 Hijrah which coincides with November 8.

In the Belait District, a delegation comprising over 100 attendees which included officers and staff members from various government departments, as well as mukim penghulus, village heads and Takmir committee members of Pekan Seria Mosque held the opening Dikir ceremony at the mosque last night.

Legislative Council member and Penghulu of Mukim Liang Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin was among the attendees in the group led by Head of Religious Officer in the Belait District Mohamad Aliyani bin Ismail.

The ceremony started with a mass Maghrib prayer followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Mohamad Aliyani.

The event continued with the recitation of Dikir Assalamualaika and Dikir Syarafil Anam.

Following a mass Isyak prayer, the recitation of Dikir continued with the recitation of Dikir Asyaraqal before concluding with the recitation of Doa Dikir led by Mosque Affairs Officer of the mosque Haji Aminorddin bin Haji Mohd Yussof.

It represented not only an opportunity to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), but also to strengthen ties between the attendees.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) also held a Dikir ceremony at the Surau of the Police Headquarters in Jalan Gadong yesterday.

Commissioner of the RBPF Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali was the guest of honour. Directors of departments and officers as well as RBPF personnel were also present.

Organised by the Islamic Religious Body of the RBPF, the ceremony began with the recitation Dikir Syarafil Anam.

It continued with a mass Maghrib prayer followed by the recitation of Dikir led by Imam of the Police Headquarters Surau APO Sergeant 6472 Mohammad Yusri bin Haji Abu Bakar. The ceremony concluded with the recitation of Dikir Marhaban after completing a mass Isyak prayer and recitation of Doa Selamat.

Elsewhere, the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) also held the Dikir Maulud at the Surau Ad-Difa’ in Bolkiah Garrison yesterday.

Permanent Secretary at the MinDef Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah was the guest of honour.

Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MinDef Haji Amiruddin bin Haji Mohammad Hassan and RBAF Chief of Staff Captain Spry bin Haji Serudi @ Seruji along with senior officers, officers and staff of the MinDef and RBAF were also present.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses of Al-Quran from Surah Al-Ahzab read by Imam of the Surau from the RBAF Religious Department Muhammad Abdussalam bin Haji Jahari followed by a mass Maghrib prayer and the recitation of Dikir Syarafil Anam.

The ceremony ended with the recitation of Dikir Marhaban followed by a mass Isyak prayer.

Similar ceremonies also took place in all the mosques and suraus in the RBAF camps to usher in the celebration.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) and departments under it and authorities held the opening of Dikir Maulud at the Brunei International Airport Surau last night.

Among the attendees were Permanent Secretary at the MTIC Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications, Cybersecurity, Strategy and Corporate) at the MTIC Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Chief Executive of AITI Pengiran Haji Mohd Zain bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Razak, the Chief Executive of Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD), heads of departments, officers and staff of the MTIC and departments under it.
