Brunei delegation joins ASEAN Scouts event

Representatives from the Brunei Darussalam Scout Association (PPNBD) attended the 5th ASEAN Scout Association for Regional Cooperation (ASARC) Conference in Manila, the Philippines recently.

Representing PPNBD were Chief Commissioner Haji Awang Badar bin Haji Awang Ali, International Commissioner Abdul Manan bin Haji Abdul Latip and Public Relations Commissioner Muhammad Syahmi Halimshah.

The conference discussed several matters including authorising minutes from previous ASARC meetings, confirmation of ASARC accreditation with the ASEAN Secretariat, updates on the 6th ASEAN Scouting Joint Report in Tagum City, Davao, the Philippines, ASARC finances as well as the submission of the ASARC Chairmanship from the Boy Scouts of Philippines to the Singapore Scout Association, a press release stated. ASARC aimed to encourage and enhance cooperation in coordinating programmes for the benefit of the people, especially ASEAN youth. It was also formed to strengthen cooperation between ASEAN member countries based on the principles of the ASEAN charter, assist in the development and promotion of scouts in member states as well as addressing issues on the scouting movement in the region.
