A total of 689 graduates from the 6th intake received their certificates during Politeknik Brunei 5th Convocation Ceremony at the Chancellor Hall, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) yesterday.
Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Wadood Bolkiah bin Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz and wife Pengiran Seti Aminah binti Pengiran Othman were present at the event.
Acting Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh presented certificates to graduates.
The ceremony began with the recitation of verses 51-62 of Surah Al-Mu’minun by Saadon bin Haji Suhaili, a Level 5 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering student, while its intrepretation was read by Assistant Head of General Studies Department Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Johari.
This was followed by a welcoming remark by Director of Politeknik Brunei and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Convocation Ceremony Denis Ho Mun Tai and by the guest of honour.
A total of 140 students received their Level 5 Diploma award in Business programmes, 156 in ICT Level 5 Diploma programmes, 281 in Science and Engineering programmes and 112 in Level 4 Diploma award in Health Sciences programmes.
The Level 5 and Level 4 Diplomas are recognised by the Ministry of Education through the Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council. Yesterday’s ceremony was also enlivened by Tausyeh performances and the presentation of Academic Excellence Awards, Enrichment Excellence Award, Innovation Awards and Best Student Award. Recipients of Academic Excellence Awards included Nur Siti Faaiqah binti Haji Naruddin, Nurliyana binti Rosli, Mohammad Shamsul Bazli Bashreen bin Haji Mohamad Shamsul Bahren and Awangku Iqmal Jefni bin Pengiran Haji Janudin from School of Business; Abdul Halim bin Ashari from School of Information and Communication Technology Hafzan anak Jangarun and Md Jalilul Rahman bin Haji Sulaiman from School of Science and Engineering and Nurajilla binti Haji Abdullah from School of Health Sciences.
Md Jalilul Rahman was also awarded Best Student Award while Mohammad Shamsul Bazli Bashreen, Nur’Aisyah binti Md Jarali of School of Information and Communication Technology and Mohamad Habib Fadillah bin Mohammad Mazni Latiff of School of Science and Engineering were awarded Enrichment Excellence Award.
Mohammad Shamsul Bazli Bashreen also received Innovation Awards (Silver) along with fellow schoolmates from School of Business – Nur E’zzah Azimah binti Roslan, Zulfa Syafinaz binti Zulkifli, Nurul Syafiqah binti Ali Rahman, Muna Atiqah binti Abdul Kadir, Muhammad Najib bin Abdul Rahim Ali and Nur Syauqina Amanina binti Haji Suhaidi.
Also presented silver for the same award were Catherine binti Abu Jahal, Sammi Ho Bing Xin and Dayangku Nursyaahidah binti Pengiran Yaatim from School of Health Sciences; Nurul Rasyidah binti Mohamad Rosland, Husnul Hafizh bin Amir Anuar, Muhammad Amar Mubasyir bin Junaidi and Nurul Amira binti Haji Mohd Kassim from School of Information and Communication Technology.
Graduates from School of Science & Engineering namely Siti Zafirah Zawani binti Idris, Noramal Yusrina binti Mohamad Aliusin, Dayangku Rafidah binti Pengiran Abdul Rahman, Haziqah binti Haji Mohd Jamil, Monira Amalina binti Jumat, Munirah binti Mohamad Dali and Nur Aqilah Izzati binti Jasmi were awarded gold in the Innovation Awards.
To bless the ceremony a Doa Selamat was read by Mosque Affairs Officer at the Kampung Belimbing Subok Mosque Pengiran Haji Md Hafizuddin bin Pengiran Haji Bakar.
Members of PB’s Board of Governors, permanent secretaries, vice chancellors, rector, deputy permanent secretary, special invited guests, director general of education and head of departments of the Ministry of Education, sponsors as well as parents, guardians and families of the graduates were present.
