Belait Arabic School students and teachers together with volunteers from Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) held a sapling planting activity at the school’s compound yesterday.
It was organised by the school with help from the BSP in conjunction with the company’s 90th anniversary and their ‘90 Acts of Kindness’.
Over 50 teachers and students of the school and 20 BSP volunteers participated in the activity. Forty-five saplings including Rain Tree (Samanea Saman), Ru Runang (Casuarinaceae/Gymnostoma nobile) were planted across the premise of the school and saplings were also planted to form a mini landscape garden opposite the school’s Surau.
The aim was to support the protection of the environment towards a greener Brunei.
It also fostered closer relationship between the company and the school and raised awareness on the importance of caring for the environment as well as combating issues of global warming.
