Uphold Haj values in everyday life, pilgrims told

Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar emphasised the three aspects that all Haj pilgrims must remember after returning from performing the Haj.

He raised this during the Gathering for the Haj Pilgrims of 1440H/2019 at the Bridex Banquet Hall in Jerudong yesterday.

The first, ‘Personality Aspect,’ is where all pilgrims should continue to perform the practices carried out in the holy land, such as performing prayers (particularly in congregation at the mosque), carrying out Sunnat or commendable religious deeds, repenting for wrongdoings, as well as other ‘ibadah.’

“The second, ‘Ubudiyah Aspect’ is where all pilgrims should strive to improve the quality of prayers. Always read and appreciate Al-Quran, observe and care for underprivileged individuals through Zakat, ‘Infaq’ and others,” the deputy minister said.

He discussed the ‘Social Aspect,’ where pilgrims should familiarise themselves with performing prayers in congregation, sympathise with orphans, visit the sick, provide assistance and voluntary work, and participate in other beneficial community work.

“May all Haj pilgrims preserve the values of Haj pilgrimage in their personal lives, families, communities, race and country and be blessed by Allah the Almighty,” he said.

Another important matter to appreciate, he said, was the initiatives made by the Haj Management Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) in organising Haj courses annually to ensure intending pilgrims are well-prepared before their trip.

Alhamdulillah, the course has produced Haj pilgrims who are knowledgeable, virtuous, disciplined and well-mannered, allowing them to perform the Haj without much trouble. I hope the pilgrims continue to maintain their good intention and always remain self-disciplined wherever they go,” he said.
