The Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar donated a collection of books to Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) library, as part of an effort to create greater understanding and awareness on Myanmar and ASEAN.

The books cover diverse topics including Myanmar history, folktales, memoirs and biographies, arts and heritage, contemporary issues and economy.

Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Brunei Darussalam U Htin Lynn presented the collection to Vice-Chancellor of UBD Datin Dr Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz.

Embassy officials and the UBD senior management team also attended. The event symbolises the cordial relations in education, culture and arts between Brunei Darussalam and Myanmar. The embassy’s donation hopes to enrich the reading resources on Myanmar at the UBD Library, enabling more Bruneian readers to discover Myanmar’s history and economy.

In academic collaboration, UBD is partnered with the Yangon Institute of Economics, University of Yangon and University of Mandalay via the ASEAN University Network (AUN). UBD actively collaborates with AUN member universities in academics and research, as well as exchanges.

Additionally, 27 participants from Myanmar have been awarded the Brunei Darussalam Scholarship on Enhancing Professional Communication Skills for ASEAN, a scholarship for participants from ASEAN member countries to undertake a seven-week English Language training programme at UBD-FPT Global Centre (Da Nang, Vietnam).
