Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) emerged champions of the inaugural Higher Education Institutions (IPT) Futsal League at the Multi-Purpose Hall in Berakas recently.
Their title win were confirmed before they kicked off their last match after Cosmopolitan secured a victory against the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).
UBD preserved an unbeaten record in the league winning seven in nine games and amassed 23 points en route to the title.
KUPU SB finished runners-up with 18 points to their name while hosts Politeknik Brunei (PB) roared to third place with four wins in their last five matches, two points shy of second place.
Meanwhile in recognition of their individual achievements, Abu Suffian won the Best Player Award after playing a key role in the UBD team while KUPU SB player Muhammad Asri scooped the Top Goal Scorer awards with 11 goals on top of the Best Overall Player award.
In addition, Muhammad Hazwan of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) was awarded Best Goalkeeper while Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) walked away with the Fair Play award.
The league organised by Politeknik Brunei (PB), which commenced in mid-August, concluded with a closing and prize presentation ceremony.
Director of Politeknik Brunei Denis Ho Mun Tai presented the prizes.
