The Enforcement Division at the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board recently fined a woman for dumping rubbish in a public place.
Sri Melok Harsumaroh was ordered to pay BND100 for leaving black plastic bags containing Styrofoam and broken umbrellas behind a shop in Jalan Bunga Raya, Kuala Belait, in a clear violation of Chapter 30, Section 12 (1) (a) of the Minor Offences Act.
Meanwhile, two Bangladeshi nationals were slapped with a fine of BND100 each by Law Enforcement Unit of Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department yesterday in violation of Minor Offences Act section 12(1) Chapter 30 of disposing rubbish in a public area of Kampong Serusop.
The offenders were given seven days to settle the fine. Failure to pay the fine would result in a further fine of BND1,000 or a month’s imprisonment, for the first offence. For subsequent offences, the penalty is a BND3,000 fine and a prison term of up to three months. The public and companies are also reminded not to dump rubbish in private areas.
