A Malaysian man injured in a hiking accident is in an induced coma at the Intensive Care Unit of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital.

Tan Meng Huat, 55, was hiking at the popular Tasek Lama Recreational Park last Saturday, when a tree fell and struck him.

His brother, Tan Meng Liang, said, “He was rushed to the RIPAS Hospital, after a fire and rescue team carried him down from the trail on a stretcher. He has three fractured ribs and injuries to his back, lungs and kidneys.” Having undergone surgery, Tan remains in an induced coma due to the severity of his injuries.

Tan’s family has asked for donations to help pay for his medical expenses. He is the sole breadwinner for a family including his wife and two children.
