Scouts learn life skills at Temburong camp

Forty-eight sea scouts from Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School, Berakas Secondary School and Sultan Hassan Secondary School, completed the Scouting Badge Camp at Batang Duri Recreational Park in Temburong District, which began on September 6.

Guest of honour Deputy Chairman of Temburong District Scouts Association Skipper Haji Ayub bin Jamahat officiated the camp.

During the three-day camp, the sea scouts underwent several challenging and outdoor events.

The activities carried out included group building of camps, knowledge on scouting, cooking in the jungle and cleaning of the Kampong Belais Mosque as well as Tazkirah Subuh.

The scouts also engaged in activities at Outward Bound Brunei Darussalam where they were trained by coaches from the Department of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The camp aimed to fill in the second term school break and educate scouts to earn the Skills, Scout Standard Award and the World Scout Membership Badges as well as to foster closer friendships between district leaders and members, and exchange information and views on their team’s movements.

The camp concluded with a certificates and badges presenta-tion by the guest of honour.
