Schools hold prayers for students

Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah carried out a Doa Kesyukuran and mass Sunat Hajat prayers ceremony at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Bolkiah ‘A’ yesterday.

The ceremony was held for students enrolled in the tuition class Project under Yayasan’s Education Intervention Program (PIP) in Brunei-Muara District who will be sitting for their examinations at the end of the year. Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud in his capacity as member of Yayasan Board of Directors was the guest of honour.

The ceremony began with mass Sunnat Hajat prayer, recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Doa led and read by Acting Imam of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque Afendi bin Haji Taha.

This was followed by a recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar, Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Al-Jumu’ah by students under the Tahsin Al-Quran and Amali Ugama Project under PIP Yayasan.

The ceremony also saw the presentation of certificates to the three schools used as PIP Tuition Class Project in the Brunei-Muara District – Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School, Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre (PTES) and Pengiran Anak Puteri Besar Primary School.

Similar events were also carried in the other three districts. The ceremony in the Tutong District was carried out at the Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam Mosque while the event at Belait District was held at RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque. Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque hosted the Temburong District’s ceremony.

Meanwhile, five schools gathered together at Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Wakeel Mosque to perform mass Sunnat Hajat prayer and recitation of Surah Yaasiin at Kampong Kiudang.

The schools were Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Secondary School (SMRIPAS) and primary schools from Birau, Bekiau, Kiudang and Batang Mitus.

The mass prayer, recitation of Surah Yaasiin and a special Doa was led by the Acting Bilal of Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Wakeel Mosque Saiful Bahrin bin Haji Emran.

The event was co-organised by History Department, Physical Education Department and Infocommunication Technology (ICT) Department from SMRIPAS.

Headmaster of Kiudang Primary School Mohd Sofian bin Jais shared tips on how to drink the Air Yaasiin and talked about the importance of daily recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.

In a separate event, a Sunnat Hajat prayer was recently performed by teachers, students and parents of Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School (SMSSA) at Kampong Salambigar Mosque.

The event, co-organised by the school in collaboration with the Parents Teacher Association began with a mass Maghrib prayer led by Masrol Azami bin Abdullah followed by a recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Sunnat Hajat prayer as well as Isyak prayer.

The event ended with the presentation of waqaf from the Deputy Principal of SMSSA Baharin bin Haji Ibrahim to the imam of Kampong Salambigar Mosque.

Elsewhere, Parents-Teachers Association (PIBG) of Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (MSPSBS) held a Sunnat Hajat prayer, recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Doa Selamat for students sitting for major examinations this year.

It was held at Mohammed Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Serusop. Some 209 students of the college will sit for their GCE ‘A’ level this year, 203 students will sit for AS level, 354 students for GCE ‘O’ Level and 275 students for SPE examinations.

Chairperson of PIBG Adwan bin Haji Tungkat and Acting Principal of MSPSBS Hajah Susilawati binti Dato Paduka Haji Muhammad, who is also the advisor of PIBG, were present.

It began with mass Maghrib prayer followed by Sunnat Hajat prayer, recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Isyak prayer. The prayers were led by Mosque Officer Ahmad Syafiq bin Haji Osman.
