The Belait branch of Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) Brunei held a launch ceremony yesterday for its new office at the Wisma Hainan Building in Jalan Bunga Raya, Kuala Belait.
The new branch office is spread across two floors of the building.
guest of honour Acting Deputy Managing Director (Regulatory and Supervision) at Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) Hajah Rashidah binti Haji Sabtu was welcomed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SCB Brunei Pengiran Aki Ismasufian bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim.
Also present was Chairman of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board Ridzuan bin Haji Ahmad with SCB Brunei’s clients, officers and staff.
Pengiran Aki Ismasufian said that one of SCB’s first local branches was established in Kuala Belait, in May 1958.
“This relocation is to help provide a new refreshing space, while optimising the bank’s process to deliver a tailored client experience with a focus on a growing affluent client base, all of which represent a key foundation and a reflection of the importance and significance that the Belait District has, as home to some of the largest companies and organisations contributing to Brunei’s economy,” he said.
“Our space is designed to facilitate private client engagements with our relationship managers and wealth consultants – allowing clients to share their financial aspirations with us, in order for us to help our clients navigate their financial needs and future.”
He also noted various milestones achieved by SCB Brunei, such as winning the Best Consumer Digital Bank 2019.
“In addition to the newly relocated branch, Standard Chartered Bank Brunei is also making further enhancements and new features, which clients can look forward to in the coming weeks and months,” he said.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the guest of honour was given a tour of the new premises, and then presented with a token of appreciation by the CEO of SCB Brunei.
Operating six days a week, the new branch will be open from 9am to 4pm, except on Fridays, when the branch is closed from noon to 2pm; and on Saturdays, where it will be open from 9am to 11.30am.
