Prayers were held nationwide as students prepare to sit for their examinations.

Students of the Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School (SM PAPRSB) yesterday participated in a Sunnat Hajat prayer ceremony for Years 8 and 11 students. The event included a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for Year 11 students.

Students, teachers and school staff attended the event alongside parents and guardians.

The ceremony began with mass Sunnat Doha, followed by Sunnat Hajat prayer and recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Doa. The Khatam Al-Quran saw 67 students reciting verses of Al-Quran.

The guest of honour later sprinkled scented oil onto the Khatam participants, marking the conclusion of the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah held a Doa Kesyukuran and Sunnat Hajat prayer across the country to prepare students attending tuition classes under the Education Intervention Programme (PIP) for their final examinations.

In the Belait District, the prayer session was held at the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque, with Yayasan Board of Directors member Ahmad Jefri bin Abdul Rahman as guest of honour.

The event was attended by 18 PIP students from Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Religious School and Panaga Primary School, Seria, who took part in the Sunnat Hajat prayer and mass recitation of Surah Yaasiin and a Doa led by Imam of RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque Haji Noor Azhar bin Haji Harith.

A recitation of the Sayyidul Istighfar, Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Ad-Dhuhaa to Surah An-Nas was recited by students under the Tahsin Project of the PIP Programme, which was then followed by the sprinkling of scented oil by the guest of honour and a Dikir Marhaban.

The guest of honour also presented certificates of appreciation to the representatives of the two PIP tuition centres.

Similar ceremonies were also held at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in the Brunei-Muara District, the Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam Mosque in the Tutong District and at the Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in the Temburong District.

A total of 502 students participated in the PIP Tuition Class Project across the eight centres in the country this year.

On Thursday, 140 students from schools across the Belait District – including St Angela’s School, St Margaret’s School and Chung Ching Middle School – took part in a Sunnat Hajat prayer session at the Pekan Seria Mosque.

Organised by the Pekan Seria Mosque Takmir Committee, the prayer session aimed to prepare students mentally for the upcoming examinations, in addition to inspiring them to do their best.

Also present were the students’ parents, guardians and teachers.
