Ministers attend religious gathering to mark Teacher’s Day

The Ministry of Education (MoE) and Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) held a Doa Kesyukuran to mark the 29th Teacher’s Day at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, as co-chairpersons of the executive committee for the celebration were present.

Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar; Deputy Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh; Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof; Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the MoE Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad; Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the MoE Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin as well as executive committee members, senior officers, teachers and students from both ministries also attended.

The religious gathering began with a mass Asar prayers led by Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque Imam Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran bin Haji Kunchang, followed by the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar, Selawat Tafrijiyah, Rattib Al-Attas and Doa Kesyukuran.

Some 1,500 officers and staff including retired teachers, teachers and students from schools, colleges, higher learning institutions and technical institutions under the MoE and MoRA attended the gathering.

The 29th Teacher’s Day celebration will be held tomorrow at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
