His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam made a formal working visit to the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) yesterday.
His Majesty first visited, Bolkiah Garrison and was greeted by Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and the Commander of the RBAF Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud.
His Majesty was then welcomed by the royal salute and examined the guard of honour before proceeding for a group photo session.
The monarch then headed toward the Gymnasium in Bolkiah Garrison, where the ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the Head of the RBAF Religious Department Commander Haji Ainolnizam bin Haji Ibrahim.
His Majesty consented to deliver a titah before 2,000 RBAF personnel comprising 421 officers and 1,579 personnel of various ranks.
Shortly after delivering the titah, His Majesty visited the new Bolkiah Garrison Medical Complex where the monarch was briefed by 619 Colonel Dr Haji Md Hafizul bin Haji Md Hassan.
The Bolkiah Garrison Medical Complex is divided into two sections; the Medical Services Headquarters which consists of the Medical Logistics Store, Environmental Health Unit, Research and Development Unit, Field Simulation Hall and Ibnu Sina Lecture Hall for training, conferences, lectures, future events such as CARAT, ASEAN EWG MM; and the Medical Reception Station Bolkiah Garrison which consists of the Military Clinic, Family Clinic, Outpatient Specialist Clinic and Health Assessment Clinic. The medical complex was officially completed on May 30. The Military Clinic began its services on September 16 while the Family Clinic officially began operating yesterday.
His Majesty continued the working visit to Berakas Garrison. There, His Majesty first visited the Pantai Berakas Primary School where His Majesty was greeted by the teaching staff and students led by Headmistress Sharinah binti Haji Shahbudin. The school houses over 200 students, 34 teachers and 11 staff members.
His Majesty also visited military homes at the Married Quarters G Class for Senior Rank Officers resided by 12111 Warrant Officer 2 Sopian bin Haji Abdul Hamid followed by the residence of 50309 Lance Corporal Md Adi Yusran bin Mohammad at the Married Quarters for Corporal and below and the residence of 824 Major Ahmad Bohare bin Mansor at the Married Quarters Class C for Officers.
His Majesty also visited the Single Soldiers’ Accommodation, 1st Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force Cookhouse before consenting to visit the Officers’ Mess for lunch.
His Majesty later signed a plaque to commemorate the visit to the Berakas Garrison’s Officers’ Mess.
