Local held for smuggling meat

The Royal Brunei Police Force foiled an attempt to smuggle undeclared meat into the country through a mouse trail in Kampong Junjungan yesterday.

According to the Operations Officer of Police Reserve Unit ‘C’ Company Inspector Mohammad Nazmi bin Haji Ismail they stopped a suspicious looking van and found packages of raw meat believed to have been smuggled from the border.

The 43-year-old suspect, Jufri bin Haji Sahib, a local who was driving the van was brought to the Limau Manis Police Station for questioning.

Police said it will continuously conduct checks on Brunei borders to ensure that the country is free of trans-boundary criminal activities.
