Joint roadblock records 122 offences

A joint roadblock operation by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and other enforcement agencies carried out simultaneously in all four districts on Monday evening netted a total of 122 various offences, ranging from traffic to narcotics violations.

According to the RBPF, the operation jointly carried out with the Land Transport Department, Royal Customs and Excise Department, Immigration and National Registration Department, Religious Enforcement Division, Narcotics Control Bureau, Halal Food Control Division, Biosecurity Division and also the Royal Brunei Armed Forces was to coincide with the school holiday term. It involved some 121 personnel from the agencies.

In the Brunei-Muara District, the focal point of the operation was at the Muara-Tutong Highway and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway. In the Tutong District, the operation was carried out at the Tutong Highway. In the Belait District, the Inland Container Depot of Sungai Tujoh was the focus of the operation while in the Temburong District, the operation focussed on the Labu Border Control Post.

Ninety-nine compound cases and three docket cases were recorded for traffic offences while 18 offences were recorded by the Land Transport Department. Two individuals were arrested for offences under the Narcotics Act.

According to Head of the Control and Surveillance Unit of the Traffic Conrtol and Investigation Department ASP Pengiran Haji Mohammad Saiful Ariff bin Pengiran Haji Duraman, the operation aimed to ensure road users abide by traffic rules and regulations to enhance road safety and the discipline of road users. He added that multiple enforcement agencies were also present to make sure people in the country do not violate the country’s laws.
