Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad underscored the support and collaboration given by Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid @ Sabli bin Haji Arshad, who is also the Chairman of Sabli Group of Companies and a member of the Institute of Brunei Technical Education’s (IBTE) Board of Governors, in further raising IBTE’s role to provide manpower, particularly in promoting social development and the nation’s economy.

The permanent secretary said such collaboration is in line with answering the titah of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on initiatives between government and private sectors through a whole of nation approach.

Speaking as the guest of honour at the launching of IBTE’s Swish! drink yesterday, Dr Haji Azman said the ceremony is meaningful especially for the IBTE Business Campus as it marks another milestone with the launch of the new product.

He further pointed out that it is also in line with the Ministry of Education’s Strategic Plan 2018-2022, particularly the third objective of the strategy, which is upgrading accountability sharing with parties of interest in the building of teaching and learning, where one of the initiatives is to maintain and strengthen ties with relevant industry partners.

Syarikat Sabli has collaborated with IBTE Business Campus since 2014 and has provided a lot of guidance to the students, particularly those taking the Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation module of the Business and Finance programme.

The permanent secretary added that the module under the IBTE Youth Enterprise Services (YES) Centre serves as one of the platforms to provide experience and expose students to conducting a business.

Congratulating the IBTE YES Centre on the initiatives implemented to upgrade training programme quality in the field of technical education in the country, he highlighted that such efforts will provide an authentic and holistic learning experience.

Dr Haji Azman also called on IBTE to be continuously committed in providing latest technical education and training by focussing on 21st Century skills that can produce skilled students, especially in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.
