Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) yesterday held a religious talk and Doa Selamat for the safe return of UTB’s Haj pilgrims. The event was organised by the Religious Unit of the Student Affairs Office in commemorating the new Islamic year of 1441 Hijrah.
UTB Acting Vice-Chancellor Haji Ady Syarmin bin Haji Md Taib was the guest of honour. Principal officers, lecturers, staff and students also participated.
Assistant Lecturer of the Faculty of Usuluddin at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Haji Mohd Khairul Nazif bin Haji Damit’s talk highlighted the meaning of Hijrah – an individual’s migration from a life of sin to piety; and the concept of Hijrah in terms of reforming oneself to becoming a better individual with the sole intention of pleasing Allah the Almighty. This was followed by a Dikir Marhaban to celebrate the return of Haj pilgrims.
