Listening to children will increase their self-esteem, trust and confidence. However, failing to listen to them will lead to the opposite where they will feel less appreciated and become easily influenced by wrong ideals, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Acting Director Osmawi bin Osman said.
He made these comments at the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking roadshow themed ‘Listen First’ at The Mall in Gadong yesterday.
It was organised by the NCB.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin as the guest of honour officiated the roadshow.
Osmawi highlighted that the theme ‘Listen First’ emphasised the fundamental aspect of science in the concept of prevention by spending a little time by ‘listening’.
The minister later launched the Doa Amalan Terbaik Pendidikan Pencegahan Dadah video prior to visiting the exhibition booths set up by various government agencies including Al-Islah Centre, Health Promotion Centre, NCB, Community Development Department (JAPEM), Takaful Brunei Keluarga Sdn Bhd, others.
